This month we had another very successful evacuation drill and assembly.

On this occasion we simulated a fire occurring around the entrance of the school as well as in one of the hallways. As a consequence we had to make use of our emergency exits in the library as well as the Nursery room. Preschool and Junior Kindy classes left through the library while Early Nursery and Nursery left through Nursery room.

We were very fast to exit. We completed the entire evacuation in just a little over 3 minutes! 

After confirming that all staff and students were accounted for, we had a brief lecture about the use of fire extinguishers. We also reviewed the location of the fire extinguishers as well as what to do if we notice a fire at school.

We finished our discussion with a brief review of general safety procedures during a fire. Following this we smoothly and quickly returned to class.

Certainly this was a very productive and eventful fire drill, and we got to use our emergency exits again which is always an engaging way to practice safety.

Next time we will be practicing a joint fire and earthquake drill, and we are all looking forward to the opportunity.
